Vidya starts shooting for NTR biopic after her conditions were met

Vidya Balan, who was last seen in the absolutely delightful Tumhari Sulu, has been taking her time deciding on her next project. Now she has made her choice… She will feature in the biopic on legendary Telugu actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR).

Vidya is set to play NTR’s wife Basavatarakam, whom he had married at the age of 20.
The film, which is to be directed by Krish, was launched by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu at the Ramakrishna Studios, Hyderabad. The film has Nandamuri Balakrishna playing NTR. The film will also see Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta playing the late filmmaker LV Prasad, while Rana Daggubati will essay Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Even though official confirmation is yet awaited on Vidya’s presence in the biopic, Jisshu maintained that he is looking forward to working with Vidya and has known her for a while. “In fact, she played the lead role in the Hindi version of my Bengali film, Rajkahini,” he shared.

Vidya Balan has allegedly already arrived to commence shooting for the film. As Balakrishna is busy with his political tours at Hindupur, Krish will start off shooting scenes with Vidya which don’t involve Balakrishna. The two actors will shoot their scenes together once he returns to Hyderabad.

Vidya had taken her time before greenlighting this biopic. It had the makers a tad worried as previously when she had been approached for a Malayalam film in 2017, she gave it a lot of thought and then chose to back out. In the case of the NTR biopic, she had a few conditions namely that the filmmakers shoot all her scenes in the script, and also ensure that those scenes were retained in the final cut. They were happy to oblige and Vidya, in turn, was apparently happy to sign on the dotted line!
