More Kedarnath disasters: Now Abhishek Kapoor sends a notice to Vashu Bhagnani

Filmmakers planning on ‘disaster films’, be warned: the disasters could flow in real life as well! Sorry to sound superstitious but Kedarnath has got us worried! The film, which centres around the floods at the pilgrimage site of Kedarnath, has been besieged by one controversy after another.

What’s more, the court cases, too, have been flowing fast and furious. First director Abhishek Kapoor and KriArj producer Prernaa Arora had filed counter cases against each other. Just as the matter got sorted out and Ronnie Screwvala stepped in as producer more trouble followed. Abhishek apparently slapped a case against debutante leading lady Sara Ali Khan for giving her dates to Simmba. A settlement was reached between both parties. But soon more trouble was in the offing…

Vashu Bhagnani came forward to claim that he owned the Indian theatrical rights to the Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer. What’s more, two other companies namely, Gothic Entertainment and Padma Ispat Private Limited, too, have made similar claims.

Apparently, Bhagnani, who owns Pooja Entertainment, has demanded his money. Documents and proofs related to his deal were sent to Abhishek Kapoor and Ronnie Screwvala along with a legal notice. Now Abhishek Kapoor's production house, Guy In The Sky, and Ronnie Screwvala's production house, RSVP, have sent a legal notice to Bhagnani and Prernaa Arora's KriArj Entertainment!

It is claimed that the rights of Kedarnath are owned by Abhishek's and Ronnie's companies. Apparently, the matter was also settled a few days ago, but Vashu's casual statement in the press had supposedly irked the makers. The lawyer representing Kapoor and Screwvala, says, "Vashu Bhagnani and Pooja Entertainment have no agreement to claim any rights on Kedarnath. If he is claiming rights on the basis of an alleged understanding with KriArj, he should claim his money from them. As far as Kedarnath is concerned, Bhagnani has nothing to do with the film.”

Bhagnani, on his part, says they have already submitted all documents in court “because there is nothing to hide.” We say, will the issues ever end??
