Ranbir Kapoor’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt titled Sanju has generated such a tremendous buzz that the film’s trailer and songs have been trending for a while now. With the film already labeled a blockbuster, Ranbir has been garnering a lot of appreciation and acclaim for his portrayal of Sanjay.
Now ahead of the film’s release on June 29, Ranbir along with his father Rishi Kapoor visited Sanjay at his residence on Wednesday evening. Rishi took to Twitter to post a photo of them together and wrote, “Us three last night at home!”

For those who are caught unaware, the Kapoor and Dutt families do share a considerable history. Sanjay Dutt’s mother Nargis was his grandfather Raj Kapoor’s favourite heroine. Nargis’s daughters Priya and Namrata tie rakhi to Rishi Kapoor, and consider him their brother. Ranbir’s parents and the Dutts have been neighbours at Pali Hill for years.
Meanwhile, the senior Kapoor felt overwhelmed after watching the trailer of Sanju as his son and actor Ranbir Kapoor’s work in the film left him feeling proud. “The way Rajkumar Hirani has presented Ranbir is the biggest superb thing, the boy has really done well. I am so proud of him. I swear on (wife) Neetu and Ranbir, I did not think it was Ranbir, I thought it was Sanjay Dutt,” said Rishi after watching the trailer, read a statement.
Ranbir too believes life has come full circle with Dutt when he got the opportunity to portray him on screen. “Initially, I didn’t have the confidence to play the part. However, when Raju sir shared the script with me, I discovered a human side to Sanjay sir. It’s not the Sanjay Dutt we know. I have a lot more admiration and respect for him now.” he revealed to a leading daily.
