Oh no now back trouble forces Shahid Kapoor to pull out of IIFA

Live performances are tricky stuff and the rehearsals have already taken their toll… Recently, Vaani Kapoor, who was gearing up for a power-packed performance at IIFA this year, was put out of action by a freak hamstring injury. Vaani apparently had an extraordinary performance planned for IIFA and was rehearsing regularly to put up a stellar performance. However, post-injury she has been advised to take it easy for at least two weeks to prevent even more serious damage. Naturally, that means no IIFA!

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety hottie Kartik Aaryan also had to back out of his scheduled performance at the 19th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards due to a ligament injury he sustained back in April. The actor, however, will be hosting a special segment of the show with Ayushmann Khurrana.

Arjun Kapoor, too, shared the news of him being under the weather earlier today through a tweet. However, the actor has promised to set the stage on fire with his performance as he has decided to take time off now and rest until he is fit to perform.

Now more bad news… with just two days to go for the IIFA Awards, Shahid Kapoor, who was all set for a rocking performance at the awards night on June 24, has had to cancel. Reason: the aggravation of a back injury he had sustained during the shooting of Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Apparently, despite suffering a major back injury while shooting in Tehri last week, the actor continued filming as he needed to wrap up the film by mid-June. On returning to the city earlier this week, he plunged into rigorous dance rehearsals for his IIFA performance. Apparently, it was while attempting a tricky step that he suffered a back spasm. The doctor has advised him to avoid any strenuous activity. This means that even though Shahid was all set to fly out to Thailand last night, he has had to cancel.

The IIFA organizers were apparently disappointed but understood his predicament.
Don’t lose heart though; the IIFA stage will continue to shine with some stunning acts by Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and the legendary Rekha, who will perform on stage after two decades. Word of advice: Rehearse carefully, guys!
