Shikha Talsania says Bollywood has changed because she wasn't asked to play a 'fat friend' in Veere Di Wedding

Veere Di Wedding impressed audience in more than one way. The Shashanka Ghosh directorial was deemed as the first Hindi mainstream film about female friendship. It was also appreciated for entertaining the audience by talking about honest women and real emotions.

One of the veeres from the film, actress Shikha Talsania, recently talked to a daily about her experience of working in VDW and how she's thankful she wasn't offered to play a 'fat friend' this time. She said, "Over the years, I’ve been getting calls for performance-oriented roles and not just dimensional roles. Even for Veere Di Wedding, I wasn’t asked to play the fat girl or fat friend, which used to happen back then".

The actress also mentioned what she has learnt from her father, actor Tiku Talsania. She said, "Wit is in my blood. My dad has a delicious comic timing. But, I feel when it comes to acting, it’s just you. So, you can say I’m a bit of me and a bit of my dad".

Shikha was featured with Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhaskar in the movie. She had made her Bollywood debut in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Wake Up Sid which released in 2009.
