Sorry Salman, Sanjay Dutt feels Ranbir has done a fantastic job in Sanju

Recently, amidst the praise pouring in Ranbir Kapoor’s way for his true-to-life portrayal of Sanjay Dutt in the upcoming biopic Sanju, Salman Khan sounded a discordant note… Known to be extremely fond of Sanjay Dutt, Salman raised eyebrows with his opinion about Ranbir playing the actor in Sanju. Khan had shared that no one could play Sanjay Dutt better than the Dutt himself, adding that the star should have played himself onscreen for the most recent part of his life.

On the heels of that controversial statement, Arshad Warsi, who has played Circuit to Dutt’s Munna Bhai, had also joined in to add that nobody could match the original Sanjay Dutt.
Thankfully for team Sanju, the subject of the biopic, Sanjay Dutt himself does not share their misgivings. Asked if he approved of Ranbir Kapoor playing him in the Raju Hirani directorial and whether he had needed to give the younger actor any advice, Sanjay maintained, “There is no advice for Ranbir Kapoor. He is doing a fantastic job. Whatever I have seen on the sets of the movie, it is really great. I just wish him all the best and I am looking forward to watch the movie.”

This will be particularly sweet to Ranbir’s ears. At the trailer unveiling, the star had sounded especially eager to win the senior actor’s respect and approval. He had shared, “When I was a child, I had a poster of Sanju sir on the wall of my cupboard, and through this film, I am in his shoes. I think in my life, I really want Sanju sir to like me. I know I never can be the man he is, but in whichever way that I go about in my career as a person and even through this film, I really want Sanju sir to like me because I feel that he is man that I respect a lot and I really look up to him. I hope that he feels that I have represented his life in very honest and improved way.”
