Vicky Kaushal on playing Sanjay Dutt in 'Sanju': "After seeing Ranbir play it, NO!"

More often than not we see actors fighting for a meatier role, especially in case of a multi-starrer film. Given the fact that Sanjay Dutt's biopic Sanju features quite an ensemble, did any of the celebrity ever demand for a change in script for extra screen time? Well, not Vicky Kaushal at least.

In a recent interaction with the media, Vicky was asked if he ever felt like doing Dutt's part in the upcoming movie, a straight no came the reply!
"But aisa nahi laga. Kabhi bhi nahi laga. I don't know why, but nahi laga kabhi bhi. Because see firstly you are too overwhelmed already that you are a part of Rajkumar Hirani film. You know ussi mein like agar mujhe ek passing dene ko kehte toh bhi main bada chaud me ghumta ki Rajkumar Hirani ki film me main passing de raha hoon. So, phir uske baad when you are playing a certain character na your entire focus is ki ismein main kitna juice out karu. Because every character is a life in itself you know. So aapka pura focus wahi hota hai. Kyuni agar aapne wo aapka focus uspe hil gaya ki yaar dusra character aisa hai toh aap apne kaam pe kaha dhyaan de paoge. So.."

On further prodding, Vicky revealed that after seeing Ranbir Kapoor play Sanjay, he feels he wouldn't have done it, let alone how he would have done it.

In Sanju, Vicky plays a character who is Dutt's best friend. While speculations were rife he plays Kumar Gaurav in the film, the Masan didn't actually confirm the development but did not deny it altogether too.

"So, primarily I am playing this friend Paresh. Who is from the States. And they have been friends for a long time, like since Rocky's times till today. And he is like almost like a family. You know, they are like brothers more than friends. And there are also other anecdotes and incidents that happened with other of, other few of incidents so it's like an amalgamation, so it's a fictional character but who know Sanju, the people who know Sanju Sir, they know, when they watch the film they'll know I am playing Paresh. You know. Primarily Paresh but also because we had to name him differently and like I didn't know to follow somebody's body language or the way he talks or walks you know. So, because it's like an amalgamation of three or four of his friends so primarily 'Parya'. That's what they call him, Parya."

Sanju is slated to release on June 29, 2018. The movie also stars Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Jim Sarbh.

Workwise, Vicky will be seen in Anurag Kashyap's Manmarziyaan alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. The actor, as he claims, is in talks for a venture with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
