Sanjay Dutt's Prasthaanam: Ali Fazal, Manisha Koirala begin shooting for film

Sanjay Dutt Production’s next project Prasthaanam has begun the shoot today on the birth anniversary of Sanjay’s mother, iconic actress Nargis Dutt. The film is the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit. It is an intense, thrilling family drama and has become a much anticipated film. The film’s shoot began today with Manisha Koirala, Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dubey. Sanjay shared a few photos on his social media account of the first day’s shoot. His wife Maanyata Dutt can also be seen taking part in the puja ceremony.

The film stars Sanjay, Manisha, Ali, Satyajeet and Amyra Dastur who will play the romantic lead opposite Ali. Manisha will play Sanjay’s wife in the film. Manisha is also playing the role of Nargis Dutt in Sanju which is a biopic on Sanjay’s life. Ranbir Kapoor essays the title role and the film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The biopic made on Sanjay’s life has already generated quite a buzz and people are eagerly waiting for the film to release.

Sanjay and Manisha know each other since many years and have even worked in a number of films. The last film that they did together was called Mehbooba which released in 2008. Prasthaanam is a political thriller which reveals the nexus between corrupt politicians and businessmen. The original Telugu version was directed by Deva Katta and the Hindi remake has also been entrusted in his capable hands. The Telugu version starred Sharwanand, Saikumar, Sundeep Kishan and Ruby Parihar.

Prasthaanam also marks the return of Sanjay as producer in Bollywood. The last film that he produced was the 2011 film Rascals which had Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles. The film’s name has not been decided as yet.
