Have to admit, we are hitting the replay button on this new Veere Di Wedding number that’s just dropped. With its heavy dhol and catch drop, ‘Bhangra Ta Sajda’ is guaranteed to be both a Sangeet and a club favourite. The song is a rehash of traditional Punjabi 'boliyan', which is sung traditionally at weddings and auspicious occasions. Lovelorn lyrics about Heer and romance are followed by comments like ‘So What?’, ‘Big deal dude’, and ‘O chal jhooti’. What’s not to love here!
The song has Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania grooving to the beats, as they face the gang of boys at what is presumably Kareena’s Sangeet. The girls look ravishing in their lehengas, as they let their hair down and shimmy on the dance floor. Coming on the heels of the Sonam-Anand wedding, it’s almost like watching a real-life wedding video on the screen. Gorgeous wedding décor, happy relatives over-indulging and the boys versus girls dance off… the wedding vibe is almost real. So much so, we can’t help searching for Anand, Shah Rukh and Ranveer in the frame!
The trailer of the film made it clear that Kareena’s character is reluctantly getting married to Sumit Vyas, although she loves him. She apparently has issues with the ‘M’ word, which sparks off the action in the film.
The film is a high spirited and upbeat coming of age story revolving around the lives of four childhood friends Kalindi (Kareena Kapoor), Avni (Sonam Kapoor), Meera (Shikha Talsania) and Sakshi (Swara Bhaskar). Ten years later when these four besties reunite, they don't realize how much life has changed from what they expected. The film is set against the backdrop of Delhi, where the girls are born and brought up. It depicts their trials and tribulations in the modern day world regarding family acceptance, marriage and societal perceptions.
