B-town must just about be waking up groggily after the rocking madness that was the SoNand wedding reception at the Leela. While the evening started on a stately note, there was never any doubt that this was going to be a no-holds-barred Punjabi celebration chock-a-block with memorable merry-making. A quick recap of what went on…
The groom wore sneakers!
Cool groom Anand Ahuja teamed his bandgala with Nike sneakers, while the ravishing Sonam chose a graphic lehenga paired with a cape jacket – no conventional dupatta that needed careful handling! It was proof that fussy formality would have no place at this party. In fact, as videos show, when the party had well and truly warmed up, Sonam was spotted in an airy kaftan-like outfit, twirling around on the dance floor. Papa Anil, Shah Rukh, Ranveer, all had whipped off their coats and unbuttoned, to sway the night away.

On the floor
The live music stage was clearly the place to be. Shah Rukh and Salman croaked their way through a mad rendition of the famous ‘Yeh bandhan toh…’ number from Karan Arjun. They were down on their knees, at their craziest best, serenading the mother of the bride, Sunita Kapoor.

Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan put on a fab performance to ‘Jumme ki raat…’ , while Anil Kapoor pulled off some corny moves to ‘Bachna ae haseenon…’. They were joined by Shah Rukh as they bopped to ‘Khalibali…’. They matched steps to ‘Ek do teen…’ , and then to ‘Aaj ki party meri taraf se…’ as Salman took over the mic. Most adorable was when they all surrounded Sonam and Anand, belting out, ‘Mujhse shaadi karogi…?’
Eye Candy
The enormous 6-tier wedding cake that the newlyweds cut to celebrate their big day was an eye-popper alright. Others who came close included Kareena Kapoor Khan looking sensational in her sari teamed with a daring blouse, while Rani channeled regal charm in her ostentatious lehenga. Aishwarya and Abhishek were perfectly matched, as were Katrina and sister Isabelle, and Sidharth Malhotra and Aditya Roy Kapur. Varun Dhawan and girlfriend Natasha Dalal posed together – their relationship is very much back on track. And Alia and Ranbir came together, looking achingly lovely. Hope they do make it down the aisle one day!

Salman ignored the loud pleas of the photographers as he entered, to go up and greet his old flame, Katrina with a hug. Despite the loud chorus of ‘Bhai! Bhai!’ from the media, he chatted with her, and a few other guests before entering the venue. Oh, and he reportedly also pretty much ignored Arjun Kapoor. Arjun, who had been dominating the dance floor earlier, made himself rather scarce once Salman arrived. The Kapoor lad is apparently yet to be forgiven for his alleged dalliance with Salman’s then sister in law, Malaika Arora.
