Raazi trailer: Alia Bhatt takes our breath away, again!

The trailer of Alia Bhatt’s Raazi is out and it is powerful! Kudos to Alia for yet again delivering on all the important counts! Her acting skills and choice of films have propelled her to an enviably top spot in the industry and Raazi just re-emphasises this fact.

Presented by Junglee Pictures and Dharma Productions, the trailer of this Meghna Gulzar directorial shows Alia as an Indian, being married off to a Pakistani. In the midst of the Indo-Pak tension, she is tasked with the mission of being the ‘eyes and ears’ of India in Pakistan. As the wife of a Pakistani army officer (played by Vicky Kaushal), hers is a deadly double life, as an Indian spy.

The trailer portrays Alia as a dutiful daughter, the ideal wife and an audacious secret agent.
An espionage drama, Raazi aims to tell the story of unsung heroes whose contribution to the nation is no less than that of martyrs who spill their blood for their country.
A complicated tale of love, betrayal and patriotism, the film is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel, Calling Sehmat. Raazi explores the social complexities during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971.

Speaking about her role, Alia had shared, “The guilt that Sehmat feels as a wife was the toughest to portray. There were these points in the script where Meghna wrote, ‘Sehmat gives a knowing look’. I used to wonder what it means. We used to giggle about it, but when she explained it to me, I realised what she meant. Sehmat is around so many people, and she’s seeing and hearing so many things. She cleverly camouflages her true feelings with fake reactions that will go well with the people around her at that point. I wondered how I would give ‘that look’. Portraying a spy in the garb of a wife was difficult.”

Nevertheless, she has apparently nailed it!
