Amitabh Bachchan seems untouchable at the top spot while Anushka Sharma came up five spots to acquire the No. 1 position for the first time on the popularity charts of US-based media-tech start-up Score Trends India for the period March 8 to 15.
Anushka’s outstanding performance in Pari which opened to mixed reviews last week as well as her sans makeup look from her next film Sui Dhaaga helped her conquer the Score Trends charts.
Using data collected from sources like Facebook, Twitter, print publications, viral news on social media, broadcast and digital platforms across 14 languages in India, Score Trends arrives at the statistics for the Bollywood rankings from Thursday to Thursday. “These statistics are authenticated and researched and sophisticated algorithms then help us to process this massive amount of data and arrive at the scores and rankings of Bollywood stars,” explained Ashwani Kaul, co-founder of Score Trends.
Other celebs who made the Score Trends chart include superstar Salman Khan who climbed to the No. 2 position because of the buzz on Dabangg 3 that will soon be directed by Prabhu Deva. Meanwhile, Bajrangi Bhaijaan crossed Rs 100 crore at the Chinese box office and news of the launch of his brother-in-law Ayush Sharma also went in Salman’s favour.
While Shah Rukh Khan slipped down to the fourth position due to the lack of his presence in newspaper and digital news, GenNext heartthrob Varun Dhawan broke into the Top 10 Score Trends chart thanks to his look and shoot stills from Sui Dhaaga making waves. Varun is likely to climb up with the promo of his next film October this week. Aamir Khan too made it to the Top 10 with news about his Secret Superstars China collection and with him launching frequent collaborator Rajkumar Hirani’s wife’s book.
While in the actress category in the Score Trends chart, Kangana Ranaut zoomed to hit the fourth spot with her launching the first look of her upcoming film Mental Hai Kya. Her Manikarnika too has been making waves thanks to its women-centric theme. Sultry actress Sunny Leone has also made it up to the Score Trends Top 10 with the announcement of the arrival of her twins on social platforms followed by a Netflix documentary on her.
Power house Vidya Balan must be the only one in the Top 10 because of a film starring someone else. She was mentioned in the news because of the Shakeela biopic starring Richa Chadda being announced and people comparing it to Vidya’s Dirty Picture. Another reason is that her film Tumhari Sulu is being remade in Tamil. Taapsee Pannu has also been in the news because of her film Dil Juungleereleasing this weekend and all the promotional events associated with it.
