Aamir decides he won’t act but only co-produce Mogul

The trials and tribulations of T-Series’ ambitious Mogul continue…

Now it emerges that while Aamir Khan has loved the Subhash Kapoor script, he does not desire to act in it. The star had been reportedly taking his time thinking over whether he should take on the role of the movie mogul, Gulshan Kumar. However, now it appears that he has decided against acting in the film, though he is still keen on being associated with Mogul in the capacity of co-producer.

Aamir’s backing should make the task of casting a lead actor to play music baron, the late Gulshan Kumar, a tad easier. Mogul is a project that’s very close to T-Series’ head honcho, Bhushan Kumar’s heart, as it is based on the life of his father. However, the film has encountered unexpected hurdles, since it was announced last year.

The film had been announced in March 2017, with T-Series tweeting the film’s poster. Then leading man, Akshay Kumar had also done the same, writing, “My association with Him began with my very first film. He was The Emperor of Music. Now know His story… #Mogul, The Gulshan Kumar story!”

Subhash Kapoor, who had worked with Akshay in Jolly LLB 2, had been roped in to direct the film. Akshay, who is known to never forget those who helped him during his difficult days, was gung-ho about being part of the project. “I had the good fortune of knowing Gulshanji well and had a close association with him right from my first film Saugandh in 1991. We shared many things in common and come from a similar background. I am very excited to play him on screen,” he had said.

However, just as director Subhash and producer Bhushan were gushing over their “dream come true”, there was trouble in the offing… Akshay decided to back out due to some reservations about the film’s script. He had reportedly even returned the signing amount.
Post this, the project had been offered to Aamir. However, sources revealed that while Aamir was keen on co-producing the biopic, he hadn’t decided whether he would also play the lead.

Now that his decision is made, the hunt is on to find a suitable star to essay the late Gulshan Kumar.
