FIR against Diljit Dosanjh for singing 'Pant Mein Gun'

Welcome To New York is set to hit the screens tomorrow. However, the team is already going through trouble with having Pakistani singer - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's song in the film. While that has not resolved, yet another controversy has risen today. A Sikh petitioner called Jasjeet Singh has filed an FIR against Diljit Dosanjh for singing the song 'Pant Mein Gun'. Diljit, the popular Punjabi singer, is also the lead actor in WTNY.

The petitioner says that the actor has disrespected the religion and the community by singing a track with such inappropriate lyrics. According to a leading tabloid, a source close to the actor has said, "Sikhs keep katar (daggers)" not guns with them. And that has triggered Jasjeet Singh.

"The petitioner has alleged that the lyrics go against the principles of Sikhism. He suggests Diljit should have respected the teaching of the community before singing the song. Diljit has never faced a situation like this one before," the source added later. As for now Diljit's team of lawyers are handling the situation at hand. The petition has been filled in Amritsar and Mumbai. The hearing is expected to take place next month.

Already a whole lot of drama is surrounded around another song in the film. The track titled "Ishtehar" that is sung by Rahat Ali Khan is demanded to be removed by the singer-turned-Union minister Babul Supriyo. In a statement, the director of the film said, "No decision has been taken on the Rahat Fateh Ali Khan song. I don’t understand why we are being targeted like this. Our film ‘Welcome To New York’ releases this Friday and this is just too much stress. We have made an entertaining film and we don’t want to hurt anyone".

It seems like the film has been going through a rough phase with its soundtracks. We can just hope for the film to have a smooth release since Welcome To New York looks like quite an entertainer.
