The PadMan Challenge has gone viral! More and more celebrities have been tagged, completed the challenge, and have gone on to tag their own friends. The message has been spreading fast and has become a successful movement already.
It started with entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, the real-life inspiration behind PadMan, who made low-cost sanitary pads for the women of his village. Muruganantham began the PadMan Challenge on social media, tagging lead actor Akshay Kumar, producer Twinkle Khanna, and leading ladies Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the challenge. They were required to take a pic of themselves holding a sanitary napkin, and share the same with the caption, “Yes, that's a Pad in my hand & there's nothing to be ashamed about. It's natural! Period. #PadManChallenge.” The idea was to copy and paste this message, while challenging a fresh set of friends to take a photo with a pad.
It has caught on like wild fire. Twinkle Khanna took up the challenge, even as she tagged Aamir Khan, Shabana Azmi and H V Goenka to do likewise. Akshay Kumar completed the challenge and went on to tag Deepika Padukone, Virat Kohli and Alia Bhatt.
Sonam Kapoor was up to the challenge, even as she tagged her friend Jacqueline Fernandez, cousin Arjun Kapoor and another BFF and Veere Di Wedding co-actress, Swara Bhaskar.
Alia posted a cool picture of herself hanging upside down at the gym holding a pad, and decided to challenge her gym-mates Yasmin Karachiwala, Sophie Choudry and Poorna Patel.
Sophie Choudry was quick to complete the challenge, naming Bipasha Basu, Huma Qureshi, and Masaba Gupta to take it forward.
Hunky Arjun Kapoor did not shy away either – he completed it and tagged his buddies Varun Dhawan and Parineeti Chopra, and also his uncle Anil Kapoor.
Ayushmann Khurrana, who had accepted the challenge from Radhika Apte, nominated his co-star of Dum Lagake Haisha and Shubh Mangal Savdhaan - Bhoomi Pednekar, Dangal girl Sanya Malhotra and Rajkummar Rao for the challenge, encouraging them, “Go for it guys!”
Aditi Rao Hydari, fresh from her role as Khilji’s wife in Padmaavat, accepted the challenge from Radhika Apte, writing, “Here it is- A pad... Even princesses use it!
