Is this Alia’s way of telling us she’s nailed Shiddat?

Clever li’l Alia Bhatt has whipped up interest with the recent video she shared on Instagram. She captioned it, “SECRETLOOKTEST, The legends at work.” The clipping features Karan Johar’s fave designer buddy Manish Malhotra with the make-up genius, Mickey Contractor in the middle of a discussion.

This intriguing post comes as a virtual confirmation that Alia has bagged Dharma Productions’ Shiddat. Rumours had already been rife that the film would star Varun Dhawan and Alia – Ms. Bhatt’s li’l video just seems to endorse the speculation.
Last year news had broken that Karan was all set to start his next magnum opus Shiddat.

The filmmaker had apparently already brought a great cast on board for the film, to be headlined by Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur, with Sanjay Dutt and Sridevi in pivotal roles. Buzz had it that Varun and Aditya would be seen playing brothers in a tense relationship, with Dutt and Sridevi portraying their parents. It was also revealed that the film would be set during the time of the India-Pakistan Partition. Huge sets would be created to depict the era, while the period costumes would be designed by Manish Malhotra. It had also been suggested that the female lead would be played by Alia Bhatt.
However, when Alia had been asked about Shiddat then, she had retorted, “Who told you that? I don't know about such movie.”

Varun had made his own little intriguing announcement a while back. He had posted a video on Instagram, which showed him at the Dharma office with the word Shiddat written on a white-board behind him. He was present with Abhishek Varman, who is said to be directing the film, and Dhadak director Shashank Khaitan.

Shiddat will bring Alia and Varun together yet another time – the duo has already featured in Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Not long ago, it had been reported that the two had decided to give their pairing a break and explore other combinations. But when mentor K Jo asks, they clearly wouldn’t dream of saying no!
