It is yesterday once more – the impending Padmavati (Padmavat) - PadMan clash at the box office on January 25 is shockingly like the famous Om Shanti Om-Saawariya collision that took place 11 years ago. In both instances, the female leads have been Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor! It had been a clash to remember then, sparking off an ugly conflict between the two teams and some intense competition between debutantes Padukone and Kapoor. The equation between the two actresses soured further after Deepika started dating Sonam’s old flame, Ranbir Kapoor – something that neither lass has forgotten!
Well, it isn’t 2007 anymore and hopefully everyone is a little wiser this time around! Sonam Kapoor, for one, is sounding all sporting as she said at a recent event, “It’s a good thing. Good cinema is good cinema. I don’t believe in competition. Our film is sweet and simple and I think honestly I am happy that the film (Padmavati) is releasing. I hope it does well.”
Leading man Akshay Kumar has claimed that it is perfectly alright that Padmavati is arriving on the same day as his PadMan. “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come, both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them.”
Interestingly, there have been no similar statements from Deepika, Shahid or Ranveer. Yesterday PeepingMoon.com had informed you that team Padmavati’s silence on the matter of the film’s release date was a master strategy on their part. The Padmavati team which reportedly was divided on the matter of releasing the film with PadMan, is waiting and watching the public and industry reactions to the ‘unofficial’ release announcement. If they find popular opinion going against them, they can always deny the news, claim to have nothing to do with it, and then officially announce Padmavati’s release at a later date. That’s why everybody associated with the film has been mum today on the Republic Day release. And that is probably why we have had no answering quote from Deepika on her rival’s release!
