Now here’s something to really watch out for: Kangana Ranaut and Amitabh Bachchan coming together in an R Balki directorial – we are salivating already! Buzz has it that Ranaut has been approached by the PadMan filmmaker for his next project, which revolves around a woman who is rendered handicapped post an accident, and portrays her journey towards reclaiming her life. It is bound to be a heart-wrenching tale of guts and glory and who better to pull it off onscreen than Kangana?
The actress has been enjoying some downtime at her new home in Himachal, chilling with her sister Rangoli and little nephew Prithviraj. The shooting of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, which is slated to release in April this year, is on pause. And while she already has two projects lined up for the year, she will make time for this R Balki film as well, as her Arunima Sinha biopic is yet to get on track and begin filming.

Apparently the film will also feature the redoubtable Amitabh Bachchan, who is Balki’s absolute fave. It will require Kangana to undergo two full months of prep to acquire the body language and mannerisms of a differently-abled person. While there is no official word on the signing yet, both Ranaut and Bachchan are touted to sign their contracts next week, while an official announcement will be made later this month.
This film will offer an additional boost to Kangana, who has been suffering the ill-effects of controversy. Her revived war with Hrithik Roshan combined with her hitting out at Karan Johar regarding alleged nepotism, impacted further by two back-to-back box office failures, has left Kangana Ranaut bruised. The fiery actress even admitted that all of it has affected her earnings. In interview, she maintained with admirable honesty that her “commercial viability” has been affected.
Better to be known for great work than great quotes, is a lesson she is apparently learning. She will assuredly learn a few more from her uber diplomatic to-be co-star, the Bachchan himself!
