Akshay swings to Marathi beat on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa today!

Never mind the first India-South Africa Test match being played at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town today, the highpoint of this Sunday will be the finale of Zee Marathi’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa – Ghe Panga Kar Danga. It’s being aired live and the special act on the singing reality show will be Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar who is guaranteed to add the extra zing to the entertainment.

Akshay, who has started promoting his January 25 release PadMan, chose Sa Re Ga Ma Pa – Ghe Panga Kar Danga as the first TV show to visit on his media rounds. The actor, who plays a village activist fighting societal disapproval to make sanitary pads affordable to rural women in Padman, is expected to go dressed in character. He is likely to be accompanied by his co-star Sonam Kapoor. Twelve finalists will perform on stage with Akshay sitting in on the judges’ panel. The finale is a day-long event and will be shot from noon till 10 pm. This is the first-of-its-kind televised entertainment event and it will be aired live on Zee Marathi, said a source from the channel.

Akshay, who is known to get into the spirit of reality shows and heartily participate in the proceedings, will enter riding the bicycle he uses in Padman. The 12 finalists will perform a special act that will include songs from the actor’s films. There is a reason why Akshay chose to go on this show first to promote his film. It is a Marathi reality show and the actor is fluent in the language. He is expected to speak to the finalists in Marathi and everybody is reportedly excited about this. Also part of this gala event is the actor Annu Kapoor. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa – Ghe Panga Kar Danga was launched in November. Acclaimed singer Bela Shende, ace director Ravi Jadhav and popular lyricist-singer Swanand Kirkire were the judges of this season while singer Rohit Shyam Raut played the host.
