Fingers crossed for the upcoming schedule on Kedarnath’s Rs.7 crore set!

Fingers crossed, that all goes well for the next schedule of Abhishek Kapoor’s Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer, Kedarnath. The film recently completed its first schedule in the foothills of the Himalayas, and prep is now almost complete for the second schedule which will begin soon in Mumbai.

Buzz goes that a huge set recreating the holy city of Kedarnath has been erected at Mumbai’s Film City, complete with a model of the famous Kedarnath temple. The film, an inter-faith love story, is set against the backdrop of the devastating Uttarakhand floods, and this is a hugely challenging proposition. The makers plan to shoot the flood sequences on the sets at Film City, showing the entire town going under water. Massive water tankers at the shoot will help recreate the deluge, which created tragedy and devastation at the pilgrimage site.

Recreating an event of such scale doesn’t come cheap. Apparently, Prernaa Arora and Abhishek Kapoor, who are co-producing the film, have forked out big bucks in order to fulfil this vision on screen. The cost of building the entire set, one of the biggest that has been created in recent times, has reportedly been a whopping Rs.7 crore.

While the first schedule of the film saw major portions being shot in Kedarnath itself, the challenging nature of the flood scenes demanded that the film be shot in a more controlled environment. Bringing Kedarnath to Mumbai naturally takes considerable time, effort and investment and the producers are naturally hoping filming goes off smoothly.

Just a few days ago, news had emerged regarding Sushant Singh Rajput being reportedly upset with his co-star Sara Ali Khan’s character in their film. Sources say that the cast had been shown a rough edit of the scenes shot so far and SSR did not find them up to scratch.

Reports from the sets of the film stated that he had refused to shoot further, and had expressed his displeasure to director Abhishek Kapoor, also on the matter of Sara’s character lacking in depth. Abhishek, who had already survived a major crisis when the crew is said to have walked out en masse, is believed to have assured his lead actor that he would make necessary changes.

…Which is why we can understand the added anxiety as a crucial schedule of the film looms ahead!
