Padmavati Delay: Shahid Kapoor breaks his silence, more support pour in

With the release of Padmavati deferred indefinitely, it appears that the radical elements have succeeded in muffling the film. Reactions and support continue to pour in for the film, which has been mired in controversy…

Shahid Kapoor: “We hope the film releases soon and the authorities help us release the film. I don't know the date (when the film will release). I don't think there is anything in the film that is unacceptable or that is not in good taste. Eventually Padmavati will come out and in full force. Our constitution says that you are innocent until proven guilty. Same should be extended to Padmavati, it should not be considered guilty even before it is provided for people to judge it.”

Ranveer Singh: “I am 200 per cent with the film and I stand by it as well as Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I also stand by his vision for the film... Vis-a-vis the film, I can just request the audience and everybody else who have concerns about it to wait and watch the film. One shouldn't doubt Sanjay sir; he is a magnificent film-maker and has tremendous respect for Indian culture and an enormous respect for Indian heritage and he will never intentionally hurt sentiments or do anything wrong.”

Vishal Bhardwaj: “I stand with Mr Bhansali.”

Majid Majidi: “It (censorship) is happening all over the world. An independent voice shouldn’t be choked. Even if a government tries to suppress a voice and contain it, artistes will always find an outlet to put their work out.”

Ishaan Khatter: “I don’t believe art should be suppressed.”

Prasoon Joshi: “…As for Padmavati, we need to stop being angstsy. Due process is being followed. Talks are going on. We need to sit and reach a consensus which all parties agree upon.”

Nana Patekar: “It is not fair to pick on a film without having seen it. Whoever has threatened the filmmakers and actors, due course of law should be followed against them.”
