She may be one of Bollywood’s brightest young stars, but even Alia Bhatt was as gob-smacked as the rest of us watching Deepika Padukone’s stunning avatar in the Padmavati trailer. Smitten by her royal grace, Alia had responded to Deepika’s outing in the film saying, “I have not seen the performance yet but I saw the trailer, I think Padmavati… Deepika is Padmawati… She was just so fabulous and she just looked like so fabulous and I know I can never look like that or act like that. She just looks like a Queen and I told her also ‘You are so lovely and so inspiring’ and I just know she is going to nail it in that film I just get that sense. I’m really looking forward to this one.”

Now that is praise, as genuine as can be, and sweeter still as it comes from a contemporary. A touched Deepika responded via Twitter to say, “My Aloo...you make NO SENSE! I love you!!! @aliaa08.” Now that is the sort of exchange between two B-town top actresses that absolutely warms the cockles our heart!
Recently, Deepika’s Piku co-star Irfan Khan also went into gush mode over the actress. The duo will be working together for the second time in their biopic on Sapna Didi, a feared Mumbai mafia queen of the '80s. Irrfan had raved over her performance back then, saying that it was because of Deepika that everyone would be able to connect with the character. “She brings a loving element into Piku,” he had gushed.
Irrfan continues to remain in awe of the actress and recently told a leading daily that he would always be excited to work with Deepika. “I am all the more excited this time (as to) how our chemistry (will) work. In this film, I am not (portraying) a decent or civilised man, so our equation in this film is completely (different from Piku).”
He further praised her adding, “She is the most beautiful person and a good human being. It gives me happiness when I see Deepika.”
