RAW is WAR! Sushant’s exit leaves producer fuming

Sushant Singh Rajput is quite the expert at calming tempers… especially when he is the one responsible for creating upsets in the first place! All he will say in reaction to producer Bunty Walia’s angry outburst is that he doesn’t want to justify himself, but that Bunty is a dear friend, and that no matter what he said, people would continue to form their own opinions.

Safe reaction, we say, because RAW producer Bunty Walia has been venting his spleen over Sushant pulling out of the production at the last minute, after everything was finalised… And there’s not much Sushant can say in his defence other than that he will not be a part of Romeo Akbar Walter due to changes in his prior commitment, even though he loves the story and wanted to be part of the project…

Bunty has been lashing out about Sushant’s sudden exit, which came despite them signing him on in February and having his dates too. Walia and director Bobby Grewal had planned to complete filming in a start-to-finish schedule between October and November 30 and now the disappointment is huge.

The film, Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW) is supposedly based on real life events, and was to be directed by Bobby Grewal. The first look had been unveiled earlier this year and had also come in for its share of attention for its stark silhouette and the teaser line: Our Hero? Their Spy? The sudden turn of events has naturally been a considerable setback for the team.

With Sushant’s diary chock-a-block with Drive, Chanda Mama Door Ke and Kedarnath, he clearly lacks the bandwidth to devote time to RAW. Now Walia declares that the film will be launched on a larger scale with an improved script, and new star cast. The implication is that SSR has missed out on a great opportunity. Somehow, we don’t see Sushant agree with that!
