Jacqueline lands Hindi adaptation of The Girl on the Train

Diwali is here and it is bonanza time for the lovely Jacqueline Fernandez. Word comes in that the stunner has bagged the role of the protagonist in Ribhu Dasgupta's official Hindi adaptation of Paula Hawkins's 2015 psychological thriller The Girl On The Train.

Ribhu reveals that he has just finished the script and that Jackie is on board as the protagonist. The Girl on the Train had debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times Fiction Best Sellers of 2015 list and has since been adapted into a Hollywood film featuring Emily Blunt.
He clarifies that while the novel had an ensemble cast, the Hindi film adaptation will revolve around Jacqueline’s character. “I have been looking forward to working with her and this seemed like a perfect project to collaborate. You get together to make a film when people think alike in many ways and when I had met her I discovered we were on the same page,” stated the filmmaker, who had last made Te3n, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Shooting is pegged to start in the first half of 2018 with a non-stop schedule. The recce for locations is currently on and the team will begin preparation with Jacqueline by the end of the year.

It has been a great year for Jackie so far. Her Judwaa 2, co-starring Varun Dhawan and Taapsee Pannu, is all set to become the highest grossing film of the year so far. As it nears the Rs.135 crore mark at the Indian box office, it has already left behind Salman Khan’s Tubelight (121.45cr nett) in India.

What’s more, Jackie’s comic timing, delivery of hilarious punch lines and lively presence has brought her considerable attention and praise.

And even as she celebrates, there’s more fun in store as she prepares to shoot for the third installment of the Race franchise with Salman Khan and Bobby Deol next month.

Like we said, it’s a very well-deserved Happy Diwali for the cheerful, hard-working Jacqueline Fernandez!
