As an actor, Alia Bhatt likes to experiment with her roles and by far she has succeeded in each attempt. Be it Highway, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi she has pulled off each character in an impeccable manner with utmost honesty. Now she is gearing up for Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi. The movie is based on author Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat.
This period espionage thriller is set during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Alia is playing a Kashmiri spy girl married to a Pakistani army officer, who provides valuable information to the Indian forces. Vicky Kaushal will be seen in her husband’s role. The flick is directed by Meghna Gulzar and is produced by Karan Johar.
Being shot in Patiala, the cast and crew were recently stuck in Punjab after violence broke out following the arrest of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. But now the shooting for the film has resumed and we got our hands on some pictures from the set. Looks like Alia has completely drenched into her character and she was seen donning burqa in many clicks. The shoot for the film ends this September.
Alia spoke about her character to a leading daily where she said, “Raazi is about dialect, body language and things like driving a big heavy jeep... Shifting those gears is a different ball game for me altogether. I am learning Urdu so it's also going to help me in the longer run. I'm playing with the language for over a month now and every day, I am sitting with it for hours. I know most of my dialogues by heart right now because I have been reading them over and over again. I am having a lot of fun with it."
Raazi is scheduled to release in May 2018.
