SEBI imposes Rs 3 lacs fine on Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty for violating its insider trading rules

Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty are under the scanner of the Mumbai Crime Branch after the former was arrested 10 days ago for his active participation in an alleged pornography case. The businessman is currently in judicial custody for being the 'key conspirator' in creating and publishing pornographic films on his app HotShots. The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the case including all financial transactions made by Raj and Shilpa.

As Raj is yet to get relief from the court, new trouble has hit him. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has imposed a penalty of Rs 3 lacs on Raj, Shilpa and the businessman's company Viaan Industries for violating its insider trading rules. News agency ANI shared the development on Twitter.

On Wednesday, the court refused to grant bail to Raj. Earlier, his lawyer Abad Ponda had alleged that the businessman's arrest was 'illegal'. Raj was arrested on July 19 along with Ryan Thorpe and many others. After the court hearing on July 27, his judicial custody was extended by another 14 days. The Bombay High Court reportedly stated that Raj won't get interim relief in the case till the prosecution is heard.

Shilpa, an actress, was interrogated at her residence on July 23. The Mumbai Crime Branch suspected that Shilpa had a bigger role to play in Kundra's illegal businesses than she was revealing. The investigative agency is expected to interrogate her once again.
