West Bengal minor girl lured under pretext of meeting Shah Rukh Khan, Mumbai Police rescues her from being trafficked through ‘Operation King Khan’

A 17-year-old girl from West Bengal has been saved from being trafficked by Mumbai Police. She was brought to Mumbai by a 43-year-old man on the pretext of helping her meet Shah Rukh Khan. Railway cops rescued the teenager after she arrived at Dadar Terminus with the alleged trafficker. She was sent to a shelter home while her trafficker, identified as Shubhan Sheikh has been arrested. In order to nab the culprit, the police borrowed SRK’s name for its operation and named it as Operation King Khan.

Apparently, the minor girl, a Class 12 student, is a resident of Palashipura in West Bengal and Sheikh, a Mira Road resident had befriended her on Facebook by pretending to be an event manager. The accused had used his son’s photo as his display picture on the social media platform and had promised the girl that he will get her to meet Shah Rukh at his Bandra bungalow, Mannat. However, his plans of trafficking the girl were foiled by Dadar GRP as they rescued her and arrested him.

Dadar GRP’s senior inspector Dnyaneshwar Katkar said, “He picked her up from her coaching class, destroyed her Sim card in her mobile phone to prevent her location from being tracked and brought her to Kolkata. From there, they boarded the Howrah Mail to Mumbai. He also told her that he has been infected with Covid-19 hence he is sending his Dad to pick her up.”

Meanwhile, the girl’s parents went in search for her and after failing to locate her approached West Bengal Police for help. The police sprang up in action and all railway stations were alerted. The girl was caught on CCTV boarding a train from Howrah Junction. Mumbai GRP was informed as CSMT was the train's last station. Now the police are investigating the matter and ascertaining whether the girl was brought to Mumbai for trafficking or there was any other motive.
