FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week: Moonstruck with Gaurang with Taapsee Pannu as the shining showstopper

Looking cheerful and so very chic was actor Taapsee Pannu who was the shining showstopper as Gaurang showcased his ‘Chaand’ collection at the FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week. She was all dressed up in a wondrous weave with a wide floral border.

The moonlit inspired show, presented by 6 Degree, featured an amazing assortment of ethereal Jamdani saris from all over India. The many models were either sitting pretty or traipsing around the spacious setting and into your heart. Live music by super singer Anup Jalota and his musicians added to the allure.

They say the Jamdani weave is considered the most complex technique in the country and the line displayed the creations from Dhaka, Benares, Kota, Srikakulam, Uppada, Venkatgiri, Kashmir and Paithan.

The Jamdani from each region revealed its characteristic look as the specialty from Kashmir reflected the serene tranquil nature of the valley. Detailing was visible from Paithan, while creative craftsmanship was seen in the weaves from Benaras. The merger of tradition and modernity came alive in the collection from Kota, while the weaving combination of khadi from Srikakulam, luxury from Uppada and Venkatgiri, brought a hypnotic touch to the line-up.

The myriad colours, weaves and embroidery took your breath away. It was a timeless and trendy line on Sustainable Fashion day.

One more thing: all the models were barefoot, perhaps denoting their down-to-earth bent of mind. Of course, as usual, designer Gaurang walked barefoot, too at the end of it all. Even Taapsee was barefoot!
