FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week 2021: Breezy, edgy, fast forward to millennials on the move at the Shantanu & Nikhil show

It looked like a fast-forward film with rapid criss-cross movements and flashing neon lights in the backdrop. It was the breezy show by brothers Shantanu and Nikhil at the FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week.

The show was inspired by the notion of celebration on the move, with earthy tones and unconventional silhouettes. This new collection, #SNSafari by S&N by Shantanu and Nikhil, turned out to be excitingly edgy, drawing plenty of inspiration from millennials on the move, adding a pronounced safari feel to a person’s luxury getaway wardrobe.

On view were super styles for men and women. You saw asymmetric kurtas and cropped jacket shirts for women, open-cut sherwanis and structured shirts with Nehruvian details for men, alongside casual-chic elements of T-shirts, sneakers and shorts.

Of course, also on view were the signature S&N attributes like offbeat details, bold drapes against minimalistic silhouettes and the oomph of contemporary India.

And let’s hear it from the designer brother duo: “The post-pandemic landscape has left us re-imagining newer ways to collaborate within the industry. We, for one, believe the fraternity collaboration is the future and what better than the fraternity’s two gigantic players like the FDCI and LFW coming together for a unique phygital fashion week. This not only sets a precedent for the fashion weeks to come but opens up the market to newer and better opportunities.
