Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2020: Samant Chauhan and Gauri & Nainika light up the runway with their sharp and stylish collections

The last show on day three at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 started with Samant Chauhan sharply tailored menswear collection, inspired by Nexa, titled 'On The Road Again'. Colours that appeared on the runway stayed true to black and grey, while linear stripes and distinct fine checks added to the masculine appeal.

The modified trench coats, some with wide floppy lapels or belted with slit pockets, made a strong style statement. Clean-cut jackets looked sharp when worn with stripes and checks giving the collection a very chic, sporty and sophisticated look. Belts also appeared for travel jackets that sported giant patch pockets.

Cricket star Shikhar Dhawan was the showstopper, walking down the ramp in an all-black trio of kurta, peak lapelled textured tuxedo jacket and trousers.

Next in line was designer duo Gauri & Nainika who unveiled a grand look that was perfect for an evening in the enchanted garden when the romantic mood strikes. Corseted bodices and skirts with never-ending trains were visions of fragile elegance in tulle splashed with discreet glitter. The designers’ signature voluminous organza dresses created in black and white printed florals sported luxurious giant scalloped ruffles that cascaded from the cleverly designed seams.

Tulle ruffles, a favourite of the designer duo, was reinvented as delicate hand-embroidered wreaths that daintily edged the necklines and silhouettes of the creations, while the gowns had an arresting iridescent quality but the necklines at times remained feminine and demure to add a touch of classic sophistication.

And showstopper actor Nora Fatehi looked lovely as she glided down the catwalk in a black, sleek, sheath gown with a giant white lavish train.
