Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2020: From label Buna, label Medium to Jayati Goenka, Day 2 was off to a dreamy start to a sustainability loaded show

Sustainability Day on day two of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 kicked off with the Buna label by Pallavi Shantam. The collection called Yours Truly was a dreamy line that presented a beautiful mix of predominantly whites that flowed gently into turquoise and lilac hues. Known for the sheer elegant feminine charm of her garments, Pallavi worked with delicate silks, Chanderis and mulmul. The expert hand embroidery appeared with the hand block prints on the flowing empire line midis. Girly off-shoulder summer dresses were accentuated with string bows.

Next in line was Jayati Goenka with her Evolve 2020 collection aimed at the sartorial needs of the go-getting dresser who needs a versatile minimalistic wardrobe. The colour story was muted indigo and grey. The highlight of the creations was the hand-painted textiles and hand block prints in natural dyes that achieved a bespoke look for the garments. Closing the show was actor Neha Mahajan, looking good in a dark blue asymmetric kurta and printed pants with the blue jacket with stripes and dots making a striking fashion statement.

Riddhi Jain of label Medium presented her Out of the Blue Red Yellow collection with an assortment of dots forming the basis of apparel and arranged on the fabrics. Moving and swirling, while forming different shapes and forms, the dots guided the audience on the functionality of the ensembles.

And winding up the first show was RAAB, the premium brand under the Sadhna Women’s Handicrafts Enterprise, with the collection called Connecting the Dots, a line of practical and wearable ensembles. Nice to note that 50 trained artisan groups have been part of Sadhna for over 20 years and the 700 women involved make a sustainable living.
