Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah director Malav Rajda ends 14-year-long association with show, dismisses rumours of a fallout with producer Asit Modi

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is back in news but this time, not for a good reason. The director of the longest-running sitcom on Indian television, Malav Rajda, has ended his 14-year-long association with the show. He shot for the last time on December 15, 2022. In an interview with a leading daily, Malav reacted to whether he decided to quit Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah due to a fallout with producer Asit Kumar Modi.

Dismissing rumours of a fallout with Asit, Malav told the leading daily, "If you are set out to do good work, there will be creative differences within the team but it’s always to improve the show. I had no fallout with the production house. I only have gratitude for the show and for Asit bhai."

He further added, "After doing the show for 14 years, I thought I had gone into a comfort zone. I thought to grow creatively it’s best to move out and challenge myself."

Before Malav, actors like Bhavya Gandhi, Shailesh Lodha, Neha Mehta, Raj Anadkat, Nidhi Bhanushali and Gurucharan Singh parted ways from the show. Disha Vakani, who played Dayaben, hasn't returned from her maternity break since 2017.
