No, Ssharad Malhotra is not playing the role of Anurag Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay

Ekta Kapoor’s popular show Kasautii Zindagii Kay that aired for seven long years and made Shweta Tiwari, Cezanne Khan, Ronit Roy and Urvashi Dholakia household names is being remade with a complete new starcast. Since the time the news of the remake has been out fans are eagerly waiting to find out who would play the three lead characters in the serial. Former Miss India Erica Fernandes is all set to step into the shoes of Shweta and essay the role of Prerna in the serial. However, many entertainment websites are reporting that Ssharad Malhotra will be playing the role of Anurag Basu in the remake, but PeepingMoon has found out that this isn’t so.

Apparently, Ssharad did give a look test for the serial but his pairing with Erica was not appealing. Apparently, the actors could not generate much charisma between them and hence Ssharad’s name was dropped. On the other hand, since Ssharad’s last show Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki had an abrupt end, these rumours about him joining Ekta’s new show got more steam.

However, according to our sources, Barun Sobti is the one who is all set to play the iconic role of Anurag Basu. Names of Mohit Raina and Angad Bedi were also doing the rounds but the two actors vehemently refused them on record.

Barun, who is an extremely popular television actor and has considerable female fan following will be seen in Kasautii Zindagii Kay remake, and we must say he is the aptest actor to play the role. Komolika will be essayed by Hina Khan, whereas the original Komolika Urvashi Dholakia will be playing another integral role in the show: either that of Anurag's mother or something 'special' penned by freind Ekta.

Ekta, who is producing the show has not come forward to confirm or deny these rumours because the names of her three main leads have already been leaked and this yes-no-maybe game is helping her generate the right kind of publicity for the show. The show will air on Star Plus from August.
