Ekta Kapoor's Kasauti Zindagi Kay, which starred Shweta Tiwari and Cezzane Khan as Prerna and Anurag Basu, was a super hit show on Star Plus. A few months back, the producer had surprised her fans by hinting about the show on social media. With that one post, many of them speculated it to be Kasauti Zindagi Kay 2.
Apparently, Ekta has signed a three-show deal with Star Plus, and Kasauti Zindagi Kay 2 is one of the shows. In fact, the search for the actors has already begun. Rumours were rife that actor Shaheer Sheikh, who rose to fame with serial, Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke has been approached to play the lead character of Anurag Basu (Cezzane Khan). Unfortunately, in spite of being interested in working with Ekta, the actor had to let go of the project!
“Shaheer was the first choice of the makers and in fact, the actor had already shot the pilot for the same. However, in between Shaheer got an offer to play Emperor Salim in another TV series titled Mughal-E-Azam. His first choice was Ekta Kapoor’s show, but since there wasn’t any kind of development, he went ahead and nodded for Mughal-E-Azam. The dotted lines are yet to be signed," said the source.
We also hear that Prithvi Vallabh fame Sonarika Bhadoria has been cast opposite Shaheer to play the role of Anarkali. Adding more the star cast, Gurdip Punjj has been finalized to play Jodha Bai, mother of Salim in the show.
“I have no qualms about playing mom to a grown-up actor like Shaheer Sheikh. Though the age difference isn’t much, I have worked more years than him. It’s a strong character and I am excited to be a part of the show,” Gurdip Punjj said in an interview.
