SRK advised me to take a break; Didn’t hurl a shoe at Sunil - Kapil Sharma

Kapil Sharma is all set for a comeback of sorts, both on personal and professional front. At the trailer launch event of his upcoming film Firangi today in the city, the actor-comedian braved the media and the controversies surrounding him. Be it the accusation of hurling a shoe at fellow co-star Sunil Grover, his battle with alcoholism or canceling Shah Rukh Khan's promotional episode shoot (at The Kapil Sharma Show), Kapil gave answers to every question.

"I never had a fight with Sunil. My mood was already bad when I reached Australia (to do a live show and finish my film's shoot). Unfortunately, someone passed away on the film's sets. I had a death to deal with on my film's sets. I turned nervous and negative," Kapil recounted and added, "I originally fought with a childhood friend of mine and was hurling abuses at him. Sunil Grover got angry because I shouted at someone in the flight. Instead, he should have spoken to me separately. I know him for 9 years now, and we have been working together for 5 years now. I love him the most in the show. I even asked him to do the trailer launch, but he is busy with his show in Canada at the moment."

However, Sunil expressed his hurt and said, "I felt bad when The Kapil Sharma Show members didn't deny the shoe throwing rumours!"

At Firangi's trailer launch Kapil also shed light on his battle with alcoholism. "Not known to many but I had quit alcohol before the shoot of my film began. But after this bad patch, I went into depression and started drinking a lot. When Shah Rukh Khan and Anil Kapoor's promotional shows at my show were canceled, media reported a lot of negative things. But Shah Rukh sir came to meet me after I canceled the shoot since I was unwell and asked me to take a break since I was unwell. So, I headed to Bangalore for treatment. But all in vain, because as soon I returned back, I locked myself in a room and started drinking heavily. It will take me other three months to get back in some shape now," confessed the comedian.

Meanwhile, Kapil's film Firangi will see him romancing the leading lady under the backdrop of Independence era.
