Apparently, the car in which both Gagan and Arijit were travelling hit a parked truck on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad expressway.
The actors along with one more fellow traveller died on the spot. Though they were rushed to a nearby hospital but in vain. Gagan's friend and actor Abhinav Shukla took to Facebook to condemn the death. He wrote, "The killer highway consumes a friend and a actor with a golden heart. RIP Gagan Kang..."

The driver of the truck was arrested but was further released after he was found non guilty. Apparently, the truck was parked right but the driver of the car that had the actors lost control and rammed into the truck, leading to a massive tragedy.

For the unitiated, Gagan essayed the role of Lord Indra while Arjit essayed the character of Nandi in Colors' Mahakali. Gagan was also seen as Kesari on Sony TV's Hanuman.
