Box Office: Word of mouth set cash registers ringing for AndhaDhun; LoveYatri takes a hit

It’s a trying time for the film industry as it has been encompassed by the #MeToo campaign while in the midst of this, Ayushmann Khurrana’s AndhaDhun and Hollywood film Venom have been faring seemingly well at the box office. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, AndhaDhun co-stars Tabu and Radhika Apte and has been appraised by critics while audiences also declared the film as the ‘best thriller’ of the year so far.

AndhaDhun has managed to collect Rs 25.15 crore within six days of its release at the ticket window. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film has been witnessing “strong footfalls in metros”.

However, Aayush Sharma’s Loveyatri, which marked Aayush’s debut in Bollywood with Warina Hussain, has only managed to make Rs 8.65 crore so far while reports state that the film is expected to earn Rs 10 crore in its first week. Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, Loveyatri clashed with AndhaDhun at the box office. The film has been produced by Aayush’s brother-in-law, actor Salman Khan – Aayush is married to the superstar’s sister Arpita Khan.

Venom, on the other hand, has impressed audiences as it made Rs 20 crore within five days of its release. Starring Tom Hardy in the lead role, Venom received mixed reviews while Hollywood film buffs have been enjoying the film from the very first day.

Meanwhile, these films are all set to witness tough competition from Kajol’s Helicopter Eela, Tumbbad and Jalebi, which are releasing on October 12.
