‘I can probably blame my luck a bit,’ says Rahul Vaidya on losing out on Indian Idol and Bigg Boss 14 trophies

Rahul Vaidya may not have won the Bigg Boss 14 trophy that went Rubina Dilaik’s way but he won a lot of fans through his stint in the controversial reality show. The singer came a close second but was not at all sad for losing out. He said that he believed in being humble in victory and graceful in defeat.

In an interview with a leading daily, Rahul denied that he was upset for not being adjudged the winner but said that there was a sense of relief and accomplishment. He said, “I’m happy that my journey of Bigg Boss has ended. I would be happier if I was on the winning side, but there’s always only one winner. However, I always believe in winning with dignity and losing with grace. Honestly, I am very happy that now I can get back to my family and my girlfriend and spend quality time with them. I have done my bit and being in top two means a lot. I am so surprised that I am not sad at all."

However, Rahul did agree that his girlfriend Disha Parmar was upset. He disagreed that his leaving and re-entering the house had any role to play in the audience choosing Rubina as the winner. He said that people did not remember so many minute details and saw everyone’s stint in totality. He also spoke about losing the title of Indian Idol as his loss reminded the audience of his similar fate in the singing reality show. To this he said, “I can probably blame my luck a bit. But I am happy for whatever my luck has given me rather than complaining what it has not. I am thankful for what it has given me. 15 years ago when Indian Idol happened I was a different person and now I am completely different person, so I have no regrets."

Rahul was also asked about his aim behind joining the show and said, “I have got what I wanted the show to give me. I always wanted to gain new fans. I wanted to reach more people who had not seen or heard of me. That has surely happened through this platform and that was my only reason to come to Bigg Boss. This makes me extremely happy.” He also said that he and Rubina have mended fences now that the show is over and they were at peace.
