Vidyut Jammwal acquitted in a 12-year-old assault case

As per reports of a leading daily, Vidyut Jammwal has been acquitted by Bandra magistrate court in a twelve-year-old assault case. Vidyut along with his friend Hrishant Goswami were named in the case back in 2007 and were accused of attacking a businessman and now due to 'lack of evidence', both have been pronounced not guilty.

"My clients were innocent. There was no satisfactory evidence before the court to hint towards my client's involvement in the alleged incident of assault. They have been acquitted," Vidyut's and Hrishant's lawyer Advocate Aniket Nikam told, the daily reports.

The court arrived at a decision after the eyewitness went hostile while the police officer too allegedly did not help the prosecution case.

For the unversed, the assault case goes as follows. Vidyut and Hrishant were partying with a group of friends at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on August 31 and September 1. According to the police report files, Vidyut and his friends got pushed hard by a businessman named Rahul Suri, while they were exiting the hotel premise. Soon after, if the report is to be believed, the actor engaged in a physical fight with the businessman, who allegedly accused Vidyut of smashing a bottle on his head in the course of the fight.

Immediately after, a complaint was filed against Vidyut and Hrishant for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, rioting, armed with a weapon and being part of an unlawful assembly. Vidyut, despite being summoned by the court, didn't turn up, until a non-bailable warrant was issued against him.
