Rape accused Karan Oberoi's bail plea to be heard today

Actor Karan Oberoi who was accused of rape by a woman, an astrologer by profession, on May 4 will have his bail application heard by the Dindoshi sessions court in Mumbai today. The actor was allegedly accused of raping a woman who had registered a case with Oshiwara police station on May 4. Karan was arrested immediately and interrogated. A few days later after his interrogation got over, the magistrate court in Andheri sent him to judicial custody.

In his bail application, Oberoi had stated that the victim is an astrologer and both of them met in August 2016 through a dating app. Soon they became friends and the woman expressed her interest in a serious relationship with him. On October 25, 2016, the victim met Oberoi at his residence and after spending some time, she left the house. Subsequently, both of them kept meeting each other at his house. The victim had alleged that in January 2017, Karan had given her some coconut water to drink and after drinking it, she had started feeling dizzy. According to the woman he had forced himself on her and had made a video which he subsequently used to blackmail her. Today, after 11 days of investigation, Karan's bail plea will be heard in Mumbai.

The bail application has been drafted by Oberoi's lawyer Dinesh Tiwari. In his bail application, Karan insisted that his relationship with the victim was consensual.
