Mission Mangal vs Batla House Box Office day 4: Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan starrer inches closer to Rs 100 crore mark; John Abraham's film enjoys a steady run

Mission Mangal, starring Akshay Kumar along with a host of female Bollywood actors including Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen, witnessed a fabulous opening on the first day of its release on August 15. The film minted Rs 29.16 crore on Thursday followed by Rs 17.28 crore on Friday and Rs 23.58 crore on Saturday. On day 4, the film enjoyed the highest Sunday of the year with massive collection of Rs 27.54 crore. 

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the number, "Mission Mangal sets the BO on fire... Springs a biggg surprise... Packs a fabulous total in its *extended* weekend... Metros superb, mass circuits join the party [on Sun]... Thu 29.16 cr, Fri 17.28 cr, Sat 23.58 cr, Sun 27.54 cr. Total: 97.56 cr. India biz."

Batla House, on the other hand, minted Rs 12.70 crore on Sunday, taking the extended weekend collections to Rs 47.99 crore. Directed by Nikkhil Advani, the film s about the alleged police encounter that took place in Delhi in the wake of the serial blasts of 2008. Taran tweeted that Batla House gathered momentum on Day 3 and 4. He wrote, "#BatlaHouse has a healthy *extended* weekend... Gathered momentum on Day 3 and 4... Faring better in #DelhiUP... Will need to maintain the pace on weekdays... Thu 15.55 cr, Fri 8.84 cr, Sat 10.90 cr, Sun 12.70 cr. Total: 47.99 cr. India biz."

While the Akshay Kumar-starrer opened in over 3,000 screens nationwide, John's Batla House released across 2750 screens.
