Box Office: Helicopter Eela, Tumbbad and Jalebi witness decline in collections

It has been a rather dull week at the box office as Helicopter Eela, Tumbbad and Jalebi failed to impress audiences at cinema theatres.

Helicopter Eela, starring Kajol and National Award - winning actor Riddhi Sen, started off on a dismal note but managed to collect Rs 2.5 crore over the weekend. On Monday, the film earned Rs 45 lakh and Rs 40 lakh on Tuesday. Its current earnings stand at Rs 3.9 crore. Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Helicopter Eela casts Kajol as a single mother and an aspiring singer while Riddhi plays her son.

Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad, on the other hand, performed relatively well as compared to the other films at the box office. On Monday, Tumbbad made Rs 70 lakh and its total earnings so far are Rs 3.95 crore, as reported by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and Adesh Prasad, Tumbbad narrates the story of 19th-century India, where a scheming man becomes obsessed with finding the mythical treasure of his ancestors.
