In an exclusive Benchmark Conversation with Mark Manuel for Peeping Moon, sponsored by Reliance Digital, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor revealed a side of his kitchen philosophy that goes beyond ingredients and recipes, and that is technology.
Long before smart homes became a trend in India, Kapoor admits he was already experimenting with tech-driven kitchens. “I mean, in India we are still early,” he says, explaining his fascination with innovation. “I like it… we are always trying new things.”
From high-end ovens to fully automatic coffee machines, Kapoor’s kitchen is a playground of advanced appliances. Speaking about one particular machine, he notes, “It’s an expensive machine… I think 500…” hinting at the kind of investment serious culinary precision demands. But for him, it’s not about the price tag; it’s about performance. He describes gadgets that are “fully automatic… just press a button and you can do all kinds of coffee.” Precision, control and convenience matter to him whether it’s adjusting refrigerator temperatures remotely or fine-tuning brewing settings.
What truly sets him apart is how seamlessly he blends cooking with connectivity. “At home, what I use, I can control many things from my phone,” Kapoor shares, revealing that his kitchen responds at the touch of a screen. From managing appliances to ensuring perfect settings, technology plays a central role in his daily routine.
For Sanjeev Kapoor, gadgets aren’t indulgences, they are tools of evolution. As he puts it, technology is only going to grow. And if his kitchen is anything to go by, the future of cooking is already here, sleek, smart and surprisingly sophisticated.
