Social media is a really, really, funny place and we’re sure you’ll agree with us especially after the picture of an egg went crazy viral on Instagram. Stupefied, right? So, were we but we managed to recuperate from it over time. Allow us to explain this phenomenon in detail. The picture of an egg, an ordinary, brown, chicken egg, has been posted on Instagram by an account and has garnered over 38 million likes and counting within days of being made available online.

But, it just doesn’t stop at that since the picture has defeated American reality TV star Kylie Jenner’s record to become the most-liked photo on Instagram. More on that later. Let’s focus on the egg now. The picture in question was posted by an Instagram account @world_record_egg. "Let's set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this,” reads the caption of the picture posted on January 4.

Before the egg overtook Instagram, Kylie’s post in which she announced the birth of her daughter Stormi Webster in February 2018, owned the title of the most-liked picture on Instagram ever with 18 million likes.

At present, @world_record_egg has already garnered 5.3 million followers and has been verified with the blue-tick as well. As for Kylie, she posted this in response to her Instagram defeat, so to speak.
