Will continue to focus on generating positive change for people and nature: Gucci on launching digital platform 'Gucci Equilibrium'

Besides its season-less fashion calendar, Gucci has been making some monumental changes with respect to sustainability as well. The fashion label unveiled a digital platform to unify its communities across the globe, Gucci Equilibrium. The digital platform is based on two factors: Planet and people. With the help of this digital platform, Gucci aims to protect the former and advocate rights and promote inclusivity for the latter.

Speaking Gucci Equilibrium, the company stated said that this global platform is meant to be an inclusive community that takes a stand on critical issues. “Gucci’s new digital destinations will share messages from a diverse group of leaders, organizations and talents from Gucci Equilibrium, and beyond, promoting climate action and a fair, just and equitable world for all. This will in turn encourage other shared experiences and ideas for transformative change,” said the company.

The Italian fashion house also revealed its 2019 Environmental Profit and Loss statement stating to reduce its environmental impact by a whopping 21 percent. As a part of its 10-year Culture of Purpose strategy, the fashion house aimed to reduce its total impact by 40 percent within its supply chain as well as direct operations in the years spanning from 2015 to 2025. Not just this, the company also plans to achieve the reduction of its 50 percent greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. By the looks of it, the fashion label is ahead of its course in achieving the desired targets.

These results are sheer consequences of the brand’s thriving attempts for sustainability by using recycled raw materials, usage of organic fibers, and responsible sourcing of precious metals in hardware and jewelry.

“As a company, we will continue to focus on generating positive change for people and for nature across our business,” Marco Bizzarri, president and chief executive officer of Gucci said in its statement, as reported by an online website, Women Wear Daily. “We also have a responsibility, as a global brand, to be active partners within the community to incite change and Gucci Equilibrium has the capacity to convene and unite a community of voices to help navigate the way forward,” he continued.
