Mulberry’s creative director and handbag wizard Johnny Coca to rejoin Louis Vuitton from June 2

In the latest news, Louis Vuitton has grabbed Mulberry’s creative director and renowned handbag designer, Johnny Coca for his expertise. Johnny, also known for his work under Phoebe Philo at Celine is all set to rejoin LV from June 2, 2020.

Given his expertise in leather goods, it’s a given that Coca would be heading as a women’s fashion goods director. His prime focus would be mainly on high-end designer bags and showpieces.

In a statement provided first to WWD, Coca said, “It’s with great pride that I join Nicolas Ghesquiere and the Louis Vuitton teams to further develop the women’s handbag collections. For me, the journey now has come full circle, to the place where I was lucky enough to hone my passion firsthand and learn the fundamentals of leather craftsmanship in the ateliers at Asnieres. It opens a new chapter in my own creative adventure, in an extraordinary laboratory that blends heritage and modernity.”

As mentioned, this venture also marks Johnny’s return at the LV family who started his career with this brand and was a part of it from 1996 to 2000.

With Coca’s return, things indeed at going to change at Louis Vuitton. What are your thoughts on this?
