Pride Month Special: Anita Dongre to Sabyasachi, designers who changed the narratives of LGBTQ weddings and showed us ‘Love is Love’

‘Pyaar mein koi sahi galat nai hota’

Yeah Geet, after all this while we know what you are talking about. Love often knocks at the door when you least expect it and turns your world around. Love is as abstract as it can get. They say, when you really are in love, age, size, distance, community or GENDER, doesn’t matter and we cannot agree more!

It’s been almost two years to the historic judgment of decriminalizing section 377 made on September 6, 2018, and here we are celebrating the Pride Month with nothing but pride! If we look around us carefully, we would stumble upon some greatest love stories from the LGBTQ communities who took it a step further and solidified their commitments by saying, “I Do.’ While their fairytale wedding brought tears of joys in our eyes, we couldn’t help but notice the designers that lent a helping hand to this grand affair with their dreamy trousseau.

Gay/ lesbian weddings, however beautiful, are very uncommon given the country we live in. Thankfully, the times are changing and we are becoming more open to the fact that ‘love is indeed, love.’ Many of the small, as well as established designers, are turning the tide by vouching for same-sex weddings and setting examples by designing their wedding trousseau.

From celebrity bride’s favorite Sabyasachi to Punjab-based Sidharth Kakkar, this Pride Month, we bring you the trend-setting designers who supported the LGBTQ weddings with their ‘out-of-the-closet’ curations.
