Mr. India to Koi Mil Gaya, Ahead of Kriti Sanon - Shahid Kapoor's Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, let's recall top 5 sci-fi films till date

Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor's upcoming film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is all set to hit the big screens next month. Although fans have been excited for the film ever since the initial announcement but what attracted them more towards it, is the release of the trailer as it brought an unexpected twist. As the trailer begins it shows a much-expected love story where the duo falls in love but this time there is no one to come in between instead the actress turns out to be a robot. What is even funnier is that Shahid is still not ready to leave as he falls in love with Kriti and even the fact that she isn't human doesn't come in between his feelings for her.

It's not the first time such films have been made in Bollywood. The sci-fi genre is well-known and a lot of people admire it. From Anil Kapoor's Mr.India to Hrithik Roshan's Koi Mil Gaya, here are some of the most loved Bollywood science fiction films.

Mr.India - Starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri in the lead, this sci-fi action film released in 1987 and has been directed by Shekhar Kapur. The film follows the story of a poor man who takes orphans to his house until he gets harassed by a gangster. After one of the children dies post-incident he uses the scientific invention of his father which is an invisible watch to fight back and save the children. The film is remembered till date for the storyline, characters and songs. 

Koi Mil Gaya - Released in August 2003, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta in the lead. This directorial of Rakesh Roshan truly managed to spread the magic all over. From aliens to superpowers and more unforgettable moments, the film has been such a successful venture that was followed by 2 sequels further. Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013). Koi Mil Gaya began with a story of a boy named Rohit Mehra (Hrithik) who is a developmentally disabled man. Despite this, he continues attempts to establish contact with the habitants of outer space which was earlier attempted by his father. After multiple attempts, he manages to reach out which results in Jadoo, an alien coming to the Earth. With time, Rohit befriends Jadoo but things change when the police learn about the alien. The film then follows a journey of Rohit trying to save his friend from being caught. Koi Mil Gaya also featured Anil Kapoor and Rekha.

Love Story 2050 - Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja's sci-fi romantic film might have not turned into a blockbuster back then but is surely one of the best films to feature robots and futuristic aspects. From having time machines to robots, flying cars and more. Love Story 2050 revolves around Sana (Priyanka) and Karan Malhotra (Harman) who fall in love but tragically get separated after Sana meets with an accident. Left hopeless of getting his love back, Harman remembers the 'crazy' invention of his uncle Professor Yati (Boman Irani) and decides to forward the time as he teleports in the future. Directed by Harry Baweja, the film released in July, 2008.

Robot - Directed by S. Shankar the film had its release in 2010. Featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajinikanth in the lead. The film revolves around a genius invention Chitti, a unique robot that it made by a scientist Dr. Vaseegaran with an agenda to make the machine help human beings but due to some uncertain events his invention turns out to be the most dangerous scientific outcome for the mankind.

Ra.One - This Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Rampal 2011 starrer has turned out to be a super successful venture back then. The film even emerged as the top 3rd highest-grosser at the domestic level with its collection. The film follows the story of a game developer Shekhar (Shah Rukh) comes up with an incredible game that has a hero G.One and a villain Ra.One. But things go upside down after Ra.One comes out of the game and attacks his maker.

Meanwhile, Kriti and Shahid's Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya has been directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah and is set to release on February 9.
