'Many women in India are lazy and want husband with high-paying job, own house,' says Sonali Kulkarni; her statement on toxic feminism and equality sparks debate

Sonali Kulkarni made headlines for her recent statement on toxic feminism at an event. In a viral video, the actress can be heard calling out a section of women who expect a luxurious lifestyle from their boyfriends and husbands without putting any effort themselves. Extending support to men, she said men in the country don't have it easy as they are expected to start earning immediately after completing their education.

Expressing her take on gender equality and why it is important to encourage young girls to be independent and financial secured, Sonali said at the event, "Bharat mein bahut saari ladkiyaan aalsi hai, unko aisa boyfriend chahiye ya pati chahiye, jiske pass achi naukri ho, jiske pass ghar ho, jisko assurance ho ki usko increment milega hi milega, par us ladki mein itni himmat nahi hai ki woh keh paaye ki main kya karungi jab tum mujhse shaadi karoge."

She further appealed, "I want to advice everyone that encourage the women of your house and make them capable enough that they can fend for themselves, who can share the household expenses with her partner."

The actress, known for working in several Hindi and Marathi films for decades, it is high time that women step up and don't rely on their male partners for financial support. She also clarified that not everyone is the same but the demanding nature is on the rise of late.

As the video went viral on social media, Sonali received a mixed reaction from netizens. While a section of people lauded her for spreading the right message about equality, some were disappointed with her thoughts on women and for calling them lazy and demanding.
