I advocate women’s right to choose their clothing: Swara Bhasker claps back at trolls for mocking her choice of outfit while supporting hijab

Actress Swara Bhasker, who has been one of the vocal celebrities around the controversy of Karnataka's anti-hijab protest slammed a Twitter user lately for mocking her outfit choices. The troll posted a picture of the actress from a press conference wearing a short dress.

“That is @ReallySwara, my friends, who is advocating for hijab” posted the Twitter user.

Unbothered by the snide comment, Swara shut down the troll saying she ‘advocates’ women’s right to choose their clothing. "Yeah, it’s me... looking bomb. Thank you! Thanks for sharing this pic of mine and reminding the world that I’m also a hottie! I advocate women’s right to choose their clothing… you know, ‘choice’ - koi nahi aap rehney doh... aap karo slut shame kisi aur ko - usmey bhi fail (It’s okay, let it be. You go and slut shame someone else. You failed at that too),” read her tweet.

Many of the users came in defence of the actress and called out the troll for its obnoxious tweet. 'She looks drop-dead gorgeous,' tweeted a user, 'Have you heard of the word CHOICE?" commented another.

Recently, Swara’s co-star Sonam Kapoor Ahuja also reacted strongly on the hijab controversy. She shared a collage of a man wearing a turban alongside a woman in hijab questioning, ‘This can be a choice but this can’t?’

The whole controversy erupted after the Karnataka government on February 5 issued an order mandating a dress code in all schools and colleges, with a ban on clothes that "disturb equality, integrity and public law and order". At present, the Karnataka High Court is hearing a petition challenging hijab restrictions in educational institutions.
